Anonymous asked: how did you get involved in band merch/booking?
well, friendly anon..
I am doing music business at tafe.
so first of all a friend of mine that was starting a business (Lock & Load Promotions) and needed a hand with some stuff. I helped out and he liked the work I did and decided to pretty much employ me.
And then there is my tafe teacher, one of the guys that run Big Apachee that are always putting on shows. I told him i wanted to do some work for him and eventually he started getting me to work random gigs.
It just takes a bit of networking, persistance and hard work.
I am doing merch for The Brian Jonestown Massacre and at Level One Newy Leagues!
So, I actually get to watch the bands too!
Super excited :D
The life of a booking agent:
I have 2 mobiles going constantly contacting people and bands, feeling the pressure and having the stress creeping up.
This is fun! :)
